             MYC 47th Annual Rachele Ross Mermaid Regatta

Established in 1978 by MYC member and sailor Rachele Ross, the Melbourne Yacht Club Mermaid Regatta is the longest-running annual women's sailor regatta in the United States and a signature regatta of the Melbourne Yacht Club. Celebrating women sailors, this regatta offers the honored tradition of a Mermaid Trophy Fleet in competition for the perpetual Mermaid Trophy awarded since 1978, and a Wine & Cheese Fleet, a more casual, yet competitive day on the water. The 2025 edition of the Melbourne Yacht Club Mermaid Regatta is brought to you in part by the generous sponsorship of BoatUS.

Entry and Eligibility: This regatta is open to all monohull sailboats over 20 feet which shall have a female helmsperson and female crew. One male is welcome aboard as a passenger, and while racing, he may not be involved in operating the boat in any way (except in an emergency), shall not speak to other competitors during racing (except in an emergency), shall not communicate on the VHF radio during racing (except in an emergency) and shall not act as ballast. Boats competing in the Mermaid Cup Fleet must have a valid MYC issued PHRF rating. Boats without such rating may be issued a provisional rating at the Race Committee’s discretion.

Boats competing in the Wine & Cheese Fleet shall indicate that preference when registering online, and will have a rating assigned at registration by the organizing authority.

Entries shall be submitted online at www.melbourneyachtclub.com/on-the-water no later than Friday, March 7,2025. Entries submitted after March 7th will be considered late.

Late Entries: Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the Principal Race 
Entry Fees: The entry fee of $75 per boat includes racing, awards, and prizes. Late entry $80.

Regatta shirt information: 

Order online between now and February 20th, and your shirt will be available at MYC on the day of the regatta, March 8. 

If you order after February 20th, the shirts will be sent to your personal shipping address. They are $25, unisex sizes and color.
